Located in the Pearl Room at Powell's CIty of Books, the Basil Hallward Gallery is committed to showing experimental works by younger artists, and enjoys having fun with art in the process, many times approaching art in a somewhat cynical and amusing way. Noted writers and thinkers have been featured here, including the likes of Susan Sontag, Annie Leibovitz and former President Jimmy Carter.
